It has come to our attention that a small number of current and former exhibitors of the Ideal Home Show have been contacted by an individual that is claiming to be a debt collector and that they are acting in association with the event.
The individual has claimed that the Ideal Home Show has sold an outstanding debt to them and they are now in the process of collecting. They have used the name of members of our staff to attempt to validate their claim. The individual has in some cases used unprofessional or threatening language and repeatedly followed up with further calls or text messages.
We wanted to alert exhibitors to this as this is a scam.
We have no association with this individual and nor would we ever sell any outstanding debt to any third party.
We have reported this individual to the police and their advice is that any contact with the individual be reported immediately to the Police’s Action Fraud department on 0300 123 2040 or via their website Reporting fraud and cyber crime | Action Fraud
If you have been contacted, please also collect all information available and alert us to the matter at info@idealhomeshow.co.uk.
We have no reason to believe that any of our systems or databases have been compromised and that any details the individuals have about exhibitors have not come from us. Rest assured that we would never provide a third party with any information about our clients, suppliers or members of staff.
We are making all possible efforts to identify the individual and stop them from carrying out these activities and using our name.
