Show your garden birds some love

With the weather picking up, and days becoming longer and brighter, it’s not just us humans who are cheering up. The last few weeks have seen an increase in our feathery friends, as our gardens and green spaces have come alive with the sights and sounds of birds.

However modern gardens and parks are being kept much tidier than they used to be, making it more difficult for birds to nest. Here are some of our tips and tricks on how to keep your garden bird-friendly, and encourage wildlife in your green spaces.

Supplementary feeding spots such as bird tables and feeding stations are a great way to offer food for garden birds and bring a variety of feathered friends into your garden. At the Ideal Home Show, we have designer Max McMurdo and Live Lagom IKEA hosting a Build & Craft workshop, where you can learn how to build your very own bird box using a basic kit and materials. Find out more here.

Growing a variety of colours and textures in a garden, as well as fruits, berries, and long-lasting seed-headed plants can provide a tasty snack for birds such as sparrows and finches. Visit our Show Gardens, where we have four themed gardens full of the latest themes and trends for you to explore, including the newest furniture trends to match your shrubs and trees. You can also add shelter and nesting sites to your garden, on trees or evergreen shrubs to protect bird homes all year round, particularly during the Spring nesting season.

For more garden inspiration, make sure you head to the Ideal Home Show where we’ve got an array of experts, live demonstrations, life-size builds, and brands to improve your garden.
