Your warmer, smarter, energy efficient home starts here
Looking to make your home more energy efficient and save on your energy bills? The UK Government is encouraging homeowners to consider home improvements that could help you create a warm, cosy home with reduced bills and emissions. From insulation to solar panels to heat pumps, there are lots of opportunities to make your home work for you.
- Loft insulation is one of the most straightforward ways to insulate your home and prevent heat loss through the roof. It can save you up to £270 a year. You can install it yourself or ask a professional.
- Cavity wall insulation stops heat escaping through your walls. It’s quick to install and can save you up to £300 a year.
- Solar panels installed on your roof capture free energy from the sun and turn it into electricity you can use in your home. Installing solar panels can save you up to £580 a year.
- Heat pumps are three times more efficient than a traditional gas boiler and can reduce your home’s carbon emissions by up to 70%. The government is currently offering a £7,500 grant through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme to help you replace your traditional boiler with a heat pump (England and Wales).
TV’s property expert Amanda Lamb will also be hosting a roundtable discussion with industry experts on sustainable living and how to make your home more energy efficient. Join Amanda and guests in the Ideal Home Show’s Super Theatre on Saturday 6 April at 2pm as they share the low-down on grants, tips, and energy efficient home improvements to consider.
